Life Update! Plus: Favorite products from 2015

Hi, everyone! It's basically been over a year since I've done anything with my blog. This past year was a bit hard for me, I was sort of stuck in this rut and I felt like I wasn't going to get out of it. I wasn't in school for that whole year and I was just working a lot. I ended up joining a dance team for that whole year and it was able to give me more confidence in myself to go and achieve my goals. During that year I went to visit the Art Institute in Portland and reconsidered attending. Everything happened so fast and before I knew it was accepted and looking for a new place to live. Last year felt like this big blur because it all happened so fast, it was like I didn't even get a chance to think, everything just fell into place. Moving is literally the worst thing ever, I moved like twice in the spand of three weeks and it was the worst. Eventually I made it to Portland and got settled down. Even though I'm only two hours (sometimes less than that) away it was really hard for me to get adjusted because I knew no one here. Leaving my boyfriend was super sucky too, I was living with him for over a year and a half and to go from seeing him everyday to only on the weekends was torture. Not just leaving my boyfriend was hard but leaving my family as well was tough. There was a lot for me to get use to because I've always lived in my hometown and that's all I knew, and being in Portland is a new experience. I've been living in Portland for almost four months now and it's way easier than it was those first few weeks. I am at a school that I love and doing what I love! I am very thankful for the support I had during my move and while I've been here. I apologize for leaving for so long but no worries, this is the first of many posts you will be seeing. That's my little update, I hope everyone understands and is willing to come back to my page and see what I'll be posting this year. Okay, that's enough about me, lets talk about makeup!
These were my go to products I used a lot during 2015:

First, lets talk about the face. My skin has been so weird this past year, it goes from super dry to normal for no reason, well, at least I don't think there's a reason. So what I would use when my face needed some moisture was this Bare Minerals Complexion Rescue Tinted Hydrating Gel Cream, whoa, that was the longest name ever. Okay let me be real for two seconds, when I first used this product I hated it. I was like gross this peels off my face and it literally does nothing. Then I watched the way some youtubers applied and it made more sense. I tried using a brush, but since this isn't really a foundation I found it better to just use your hands. Once I was able to apply this correctly I fell in love! It evens out my skin and even though there isn't much coverage my face looked like one color. This just let my skin breath and feel fresh. Bonus! it has SPF 30, yay!
Next is the Amazonian Clay Full Coverage Foundation by Tarte. I liked this product during the summer so much, and it really is super full coverage. I liked this foundation in the summer because if I went to an event and it was blazing hot outside this foundation made me look like I wasn't even sweating. Since it's a clay texture it really stays on your skin and it takes a lot for it to come off. If you want this similar effect but not as heavy you could also try their BB cream, it's lighter but still able to give really good coverage.
I wouldn't always use this during the summer, and since this product gives more of a matte finish I would spray my face with the NYX Dewy Finish Setting Spray. It would make me glow and I would have that wet look. Some people don't like that, but when I would have dry skin, oh yes, I wanted to look like I dunked my head in water. As weird as that sounds. It would make me glow though! Who doesn't want their face to look like a disco ball ;)
Speaking of disco balls, lets talk about HIGHLIGHTERS! Oh my goodness, I got so obsessed with the whole highlighting trend, it just looks so gorgeous to me. The two bigger products on the left are the highlighters, and they're from Colour Pop!This Brand is pretty amazing, and so freaking affordable, it's crazy. You could probably tell which highlighter was my favorite, the one that hit pan and looks like a mess. That one is called Spoon, this seriously gave me life, it's like this bronze colored highlight with some hints of white to it and it would just give the prettiest glow, I would always tilt my head and wait for my boyfriend to say that my 'highlight is on fleek!', as Jaclyn Hill would say. (If you don't know who Jaclyn Hill is, please go to youtube and watch her, she's amazing!) Anyways, the one in the middle is called Lunch Money and it has more of that white glow to it. It wasn't my favorite but I use it now as a base to add a powder highlighter on. These are priced at $8, it's so worth it. And they usually have some kind of coupon code if it's your first order so take advantage of that. The last Colour Pop product I'll talk about it their eyeshadows. I bought this quad for $20 and it came with four eyeshadows that the lovely Kathleen Lights created in collaboration with CP, that quad was called Where the Light Is. This one was my go to eyeshadow when it came to more sparkly, dramatic looks. This color is called Blaze, it is so beautiful and when you layer it under another eyeshadow it just makes your eyes pop! The formula of their products is usually a creamy texture and works best when applied with your fingers. Or you could use a brush a spray it with setting spray to make it stick. Side note, Kathleen Lights just released her new quad with CP that's called Where the Night is, it looks amazing, I will be purchasing that as soon as I can!
Concealer has seriously become my best friend, no joke. Sometimes when I feel too lazy or I'm short on time to do a full face I'll just use concealer under my eyes, forehead and a little bit on my chin and call it good. I use it just to cover up the redness. These two concealers are the better ones from the drugstore, in my opinion. Also, because those are the only ones I've tried, so I'm super biased, but they're the ones I can afford to purchase multiple times. The first one is the Maybelline Fit Me concealer and the Master Conceal. I love both of them, the Fit Me one has a doe foot applicator so it's easy to apply. Unfortunately with the Master Conceal one you have to squeeze it out of the tube, so the application is a bit more annoying but the result is amazing. For a drugstore product it has amazing coverage, a little goes a long way too. That's all I was wearing on my face in the photos on this post by the way, and I love it. To set my under eyes I used that next product, the NYX finishing powder in Banana. I like how it sets and it doesn't make me look cakey. I'll show you what brush I use to apply it next...
Elf has some really great brushes, and for $3, whaaaaat!? That's amazing. I have the angled brush, the tapered brush and that eyeliner brush. These are my favorites! I use them everyday and I'm definitely going to purchase multiples of these because I love them so much. The small tapered one is the one I use to set my under eyes, its the perfect size for me. I use the angled one to contour with, a lot of people use different brushes for contouring, but for me I like having an angle to it. And its small so you're able to build it up without starting with too much product. The small eyeliner one I use to fill in my brows or to had black eye shadow to my wings. It's a good size and does the job, and for only $3, I am not going to complain. I have not tried their actual makeup, so if you have any products that are your must haves, let me know so I  can try them!
Brows! I don't know what I was doing with my life before these products. Sometimes I don't even do my makeup, but I'll do my brows for sure. I received the Pixi Brow Powder Tri in my Ipsy bag a while ago, and then I saw it at target on clearance so my amazing boyfriend got it for me in my stocking :) I'm assuming it's getting discontinued because they were on clearance, which is a bummer because I liked that these were easy to travel with. The only issue was the variety in colors, thankfully I was able to use them, but not everyone has dark eyebrows. Other than that, I liked it. I would either use the dark color or sometimes I would mix colors to not make my brows so harsh. Next are the brow pencils. The first one is the NYX Micro Brow Pencil, and it comes with a spooly at one end the color at the other, you just twist it up. I loved using this product, I was able to do my brows in under 5 minuets and be happy with them. Okay, I'm going to cheat for a second, I recently purchased the Anastasia Brow Wiz because I had a Sephora gift card, so I didn't use it during 2015, but let me just let you know, this brow wiz is the key to success. I don't know what it is, but I do like it better than the NYX one. There's just something about it. It is double the price of the NYX one so I probably won't repurchase the ABH(Anastasia Beverly Hills) brow wiz soon, but whenever I have extra I'll for sure be getting it. But if you're on a budget the NYX one is great! It's literally the same thing as the ABH one and half the price. I've just seen so many youtubers rave about it and I needed to try it!
SP01, Cherry Skies, Soft Spoken, Prague, Abu Dhabi
Okay, so, let me tell you something, I know I said the ABH brow wiz was the key to success, but... these lip products are also a very large key to success. I'm cheating again because the NYX Liquid Suede ones I purchased around New Years Eve, so I barely used them for 2015, but I really wanted to include them because they're so amazing for the price they're at. I think they're about $5.99 or $6.99, either way that's not bad. I like them way more than the soft matte lip cream, which are the two little ones. The formula of the Suede ones is just so creamy yet it looks matte, and it doesn't make my lips look cracked. The soft matte ones don't make my lips look cracked but I don't like that my lips feel too dry. Those aren't too big of issues those because I love using all those lip products. But when they came out with the suede ones I had to try them and they're the best! So if you don't like the way liquid lipsticks leave your lips, definitely try these. I can't forget about the lip crayon, I mainly just really love the color. The formula is eh, it doesn't stay on as long  and it's kinda patchy but I'm obsessed with the color, I have two of them. I used this color so much in the summer time, it was a really pretty light pink color that I thought was perfect for the summer.
I did it! My first post of 2016 :)

Side note: I'm still working on my set up for taking pictures and what not, so bear with me if my backgrounds aren't as cute. And second side note, I know that the Art Institute has been getting some negativity, but please do not post about it to me, I've heard it all and am well aware. I'm doing fine there and really love it there, so please, no negativity.
Thank you :)
